I will be the first to admit that I love when a new photographer comes to The Garrett-Bullock House! Now, don't get me wrong -- I love our "regulars" and their work is always incredible! However, there is something amazingly special when a photographer who has never taken pictures at the house comes for a wedding.

Call it a "new set of eyes" or a "fresh look on things" but to me the amazement of how someone new sees the house that always takes my breath away.

If you've ever met me then you know -- I love The Garrett-Bullock House. In fact, it was love at first sight. I definitely have had a love affair with the ol' girl from her beautiful mahogany doors to her stained glass windows to her imperfections that somehow I just can't bring myself to change. So pictures that others can document her beauty always awe and astound me.

This weekend was no exception.

There are some photographers who haven't had the opportunity to shoot at The Garrett-Bullock House and I just get tickled when I find out that they "eyes" will be on site. This weekend, it was the opportunity to work with Jamie Burnett. I've been a big fan of her work on Facebook and online so I couldn't wait to see what she saw at the house.

She was amazing to work with and the shots she shared with us from behind the camera were phenominal!

Before the house was cleaned up for the evening, she already had posted this image:

Simply breathtaking! Featuring one of my favorite parts of the house -- the sunsets from the front porch! We have the most amazing view of some of God's most creative artwork every evening on 2nd Avenue! And just like I expected -- catching a unique view of the house and our weddings!

So this will tide me over for a while...but I anxiously wait to see the rest!

Amanda & Brandon -- June 21, 2010

Amanda & Brandon's wedding was our first Monday morning wedding but it was a fantastic one!

Rudy from Wisteria Salon and Teresa from Mary Kay showed up extra early to get the girl's hair and makeup ready!

Joanie Clay of JC Photography captured every shot of the day and as always created some incredible memories for this couple to enjoy for years to come! (One day we'll get an actual picture of JOANIE to put up here too!)

Designs By Mayumi provided gorgeous bouquets of blues, reds, and purples to enhance the beauty of the event!

Inside the house, Ms. Fran Papenfuss (aka The Cake Lady) provided a deliciously beautiful cake with a hysterical cake topper that Amanda had picked out!

The beautful couple got married in front of our fountain with candles all the way around at 9 am with a house full of their friends and family to celebrate their life with them!

After being pronounced "husband and wife", the couple headed into the house to enjoy a breakfast buffet from Girlfriend's Catering. Their guests completely enjoyed the variety of breakfast goodies and wedding cake!

Amanda and Brandon departed to a sea of bubbles in front of the house and into a fantastic life together!

I think that almost every weddings touch their wedding coordinators -- no matter who you are. There is some point during the wedding day that you realize the process you have completed together or just something that takes your breath away. This was one of those where almost the entire day did that for me.

When I met Carrie I was overwhelmed with her organization. During our first meeting, she brought a 3" binder with her filled with ideas. She put it on the table and said "This is my wedding -- let's make it happen!" Her enthusiasm with her bubbly personality was just contageous! We worked for almost a year on her wedding and let me say that this girl KNEW what she wanted for her wedding down to the last detail!

So I guess it wasn't any surprise that when she took The Garrett-Bullock House sidewalk stroll towards me to head down the aisle that the thoughts of all of our hard work together hit me and my eyes began to well up and seeing what a beautiful bride she was just took me by surprise. It was like sending a family member down the aisle!

Carrie and Cory's wedding was at our fountain -- complete with candles all the way around the fountain and floating candles up top. The full house was there to support these two truly wonderful people. Carrie was so beautiful and yet so giggly at the same time -- this girl was ready to be married!

Carrie's flower girl, Sophie, had stage fright going down the aisle but as soon as everyone applauded for the first kiss she stole the show by throwing the rose petals up in the air as she exited!

As the parents exited the ceremony, Carrie's mother high fived me as she headed into the house and excitedly declared "WE DID IT!" Completely tickled me!

Designs By Mayumi designed beautiful bouquets in the hot pink and orange colors of the wedding.

The guests enjoyed a wondeful meal from Kimble's Events By Design and a chocolate fountain from The Fun Stuff! while they watch a photo montage of Carrie and Cory's childhood pictures that everyone was so touched by!

Benji Shepherd with MBS Entertainment kept the crowd on it's feet and dancing throughout the event.

The Cake Lady provided a beautiful cake to top off the evening with such delicious taste!

And just in true Carrie style, the evening concluded with just she and Cory on the dance floor dancing to the song "One Boy, One Girl."

Beautiful wedding with 2 beautiful people -- thank you so much for letting us be apart of it!

Blair & Bryan, June 12, 2010

Blair and Bryan's wedding was everything you want a day to be in June -- beautiful, blue skies with little white puffy clouds!

It was The Garrett-Bullock House's first opportunity to work with Lisette Price Photography and the unveiling of Blair's bridal portraits! Blair is a former pitcher for the University of Alabama softball team and where is a more appropriate place to take bridal portraits than on the mound! They were incredible!

Blair was gorgeous in her dress and the word "stunning" was constantly being mentioned as she had her wedding pictures taken. Blair had her bridesmaids in fantastic short orange dresses and Designs By Mayumi finished their ensemble with gerber daisy bouquets!

The Fun Stuff prepared the gorgeous orange and hot pink chair covers for the ceremony and gave an accent for the bright event it truly was!

Mayumi also made a gorgeous arrangement to welcome the guests in the foyer with different colored gerber daisies, and roses!

Kimble's Events By Design brought their famous food stations for each room in the house! And The Fun Stuff had the chocolate fountain for every one to enjoy!

The reception continued in the tent where the guests continued dancing to the candle light and then we enjoyed the bouquet and garter toss off our front porch!

It was a beautiful day that continued to a beautiful evening for a beautiful marriage!

Amanda and Jason's wedding was one of those weddings you look back and think "even rain couldn't overcome the amount of love and joy that are present today."

The rain clouds had rolled in but as soon as Amanda walked down the aisle under the tent, it seemed that the rain was the lightest rain that ever existed. And those raindrops remained that way throughout the evening.

After a beautiful ceremony, the reception began inside The Garrett-Bullock House. The guests began to enjoy the chocolate fountain from The Fun Stuff!

Designs By Mayumi provided the incredible flowers that were just breath taking!

The couple were introduced down the staircase by our DJ for the evening, Benji Shepherd of MBS Entertainment.

As soon as they mingled with their guests, our 13 foot pocket doors opened and Kimble's Events By Design feast was served for all to enjoy.

MBS Entertainment kept the dancing going all night and Julie Hedges of JE Hedges Photography captured the wondeful moments of the evening.

Ms. Fran Papenfuss (aka The Cake Lady) provided a beautiful cake (and tasty too!). The second layer was red velvet and was so good that guests were scaping the last of the crumbs from the cake stand!

The couple ran out our mahogany double doors and out into the limousine from A Courtesy Limousine!

What a wonderful evening with two wonderful families brought together with love!

Drew and JD's wedding was one of those wedding stories that make our staff beam with pride!

They had originally scheduled their rehearsal dinner with The Garrett-Bullock House but after having a discouraging time with their wedding reception venue, Drew called and asked if they could move their reception over to us. We were thrilled to host their wedding reception and the night was an incredible one!

Drew and JD both currently reside in Savannah so most of the planning was done long distance but that seems to be one of the things we do best -- pulling the details together via email and phone.

Drew definitely knew what she wanted her wedding to be like and she created a wedding that was truly a gift to all of her guests.

Drew and JD got married at a church downtown Columbus and the wedding party arrived at our house in style on a Columbus Trolley!

The foyer and the tables were decorated with peach and champagne overlays and fantastic tall hydrangeas arrangements from Designs By Mayumi and the other tables had arrangements of fresh Georgia peaches that smelled fantastic!

The couple enjoyed their first dance and while Drew danced with her father, JD's friends captured him and LITERALLY put a ball and chain on his leg! What a hoot!

Kimble's Events By Design had a wonderful selection of dishes for all the guests to enjoy including Southern teas, lemonade, and Drew & JD provided old time bottled Coca-Colas!

The Cake Lady (also known as Fran Papenfuss) made the beautiful wedding cake and the Georgia Southern groom's cake (Go Big Blue!)

Kim Foster and Ritchie White of Blue Willow Studios captured all the photographic moments to remember forever!

The guests danced ALL night long with the selections of Tim Brittsan of Atlanta Music Company who also provided the beautiful uplighting for the tent! The guests stayed and danced and danced and the evening was topped off with Drew showing off her dancing skills with each of her brothers!

JD and Drew departed through a sea of sparklers and were wisked away to Atlanta by A Courtesy Limousine!

They were such a fun couple to work with and their wedding turned out with all of our staff loving every minute of it!

Gary and Tricia, August 1, 2009

One word comes to mind when I think of Tricia and Gary's wedding: FUN!!! Everyone who was there came to have a good time and to celebrate with such a great couple and they did just that!

Mrs. Fran Papenfuss let creativity fly and designed a wedding cake that matched the design of the dress of the bride! What better way to honor such a beautiful dress than with cake! As a surprise for Gary, who is a karate expert, Mrs. Fran created a black belt groom's cake. Well, it was suppose to be a surprise, but someone...not mentioning any names (Tricia!), spilled the beans early!

Floral arrangements were created by Designs by Mayumi. As always Mayumi went above and beyond by creating amazing bouquets! They were simply stunning against the navy blue of the bridesmaid dresses!

After the ceremony Tricia and Gary were treated to a horse and carriage ride around Uptown Columbus by Broadway Carriage Company. This was a great time for photos and just a moment to catch their breaths! After they returned their guests were treated to rides as well! My favorite has to be the grandparents riding off during pictures with their drinks in hand raised to the bride and groom!

Tricia and her brother were providing a very sentimental moment by dancing to the song that their parent's had danced to on their wedding day. The reception was full of "awe's and ohs" and lots of tears....and then everything changed! These two had created a hilarious montage of dances from the early 80s throughout today. Tears of sweetness soon turned to those of laughter! And thankfully Mike Allan of Allan Videography was there to capture it all!

Needless to say the reception was full of love, laughter, good tunes (thanks to Todd of the Dance Doctor), tasty food by the Rivermill and all around just memory after memory to last a lifetime. Thanks to Caroline of MPC Photography for capturing these in such a special way!

Huge thanks to Tricia and Gary! You guys are definitely one of the most memorable weddings to be held at The Garrett Bullock House!

Kim & Josh Weaver -- July 25, 2009

The clouds came in just about an hour before the ceremony to cooled off the air and created a perfect day for Kim and Josh Weaver's wedding!

Kim and Josh got married at our fountain by our favorite "Wedding Preacher" -- Dr. Rev. Jim Willis along with Kim's two sons! Kim carried the beautiful flowers put together by Designs By Mayumi.

Kimble's Events By Design had their incredible selections of food stations for all the guests as Taylor Mack Cakes brought in a fantastic wedding and groom's cake!

Tim Brittsan of Atlanta Music Company in Newnan was spinning the tunes, teaching a few dance steps, and kept the party going until the last minute possible! (Yes -- Josh even got out there and danced too!)

And John Helms (johntookmypicture.com) captured it all throughout the night!

Thanks so much to all of our vendors for all their hard work! It's nights like tonight that make our jobs easy!

We've had so many requests we decided we just had to do it!

We look forward to posting our going's on, weddings, parties, our upcoming Open Houses and special activities! We'll try and even post a photo or two to give you a glimpse of what we do!
